Job Description

  • Provide leadership in influencing improved Business performance for all staff through robust HR frameworks. 
  • Embed Line Manager Capabilities across the Bank.
  • Ensure staff related procedures and practices comply with local legal requirements and fair employee treatment.
  • Take the lead on and /or advise management on all issues of Employee Relations.
  • Identify talent and initiate activities to extend reach and depth of talent pipeline (including enhancing Diversity)
  • Facilitate management of the talent pool as per Group process.
  • Provide a robust Compensation and Benefit support to enable the Bank to attract, retain, and reward talent that will effectively contribute to the achievement of corporate objectives.
  • Monitor market, business and regulatory trends to develop, recommend and ensure implementation of flexible, business focused policies, practices and procedures in compensation in line with Group Reward Policy.
  • Maintain networks of external contacts that enables the benchmarking of compensation practices against relevant comparator organisations and migrate best practice where appropriate.
  • Monitor the compensation related key risk indicators and ensure that policies are adapted to minimise risk.
  • Support Business Managers to manage the P3 process as per Group Guidelines.
  • Take the lead on and /or advise management on issues of Industrial Relations/Collective Bargaining and Employee Relations.
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values.  Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
  • Responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Ensure that required control standards are being met, by continuous monitoring of risk and control indicators.
  • Highlight and escalate (as required) where control standards are not being met, including highlighting control design deficiencies or gaps to Group Risk Owners.
  • Challenge and approve (where appropriate) first line risk identification, residual risk assessments and mitigation plan, taking into account changes to the internal and / or external environment
  • Review, challenge and support Risk Acceptance Requests request made by relevant Country Process Owner(s) for submission to the authorized risk acceptance authority.
  • Monitor ‘live’ risks, and jointly with first line owners, ensure that appropriate management action is being taken to mitigate their impact.
  • Job holder is the Risk Owner for rules and regulations related to Employment, Remuneration, Benefits and Pensions in Egypt;
  • Job holder has the authority to accept residual risks rated Medium pertaining to Employment, Remuneration, Benefits and Pensions regulations. Residual risks that are rated Very High or High which must be accepted in line with the authorities articulated in the table below:
  • Provide unified leadership and ensure strong end to end governance across all matters related to HR.
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

Job Requrements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business-related degree
  • Professional HR Qualification (CIPD or SHRM)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of local employment laws and regulations
  • Senior Management experience in Human Resources between three to five years
