Job Description
- Manage and oversee the organization’s storage and backup infrastructure, ensuring high availability and data integrity.
- Design, implement, and maintain storage and backup solutions, including storage area networks (SAN), network-attached storage (NAS), and tape libraries.
- Monitor storage and backup systems performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource utilization.
- Develop and enforce data backup, retention, and recovery policies and procedures in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of storage and backup systems with other infrastructure components.
- Conduct regular capacity planning and forecasting to ensure sufficient storage capacity and backup resources for business needs.
- Perform routine maintenance activities, including software upgrades, patching, and firmware updates.
- Evaluate and recommend new storage and backup technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Handle storage and backup-related incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members, sharing expertise and best practices.
- Strong knowledge of storage technologies, such as SAN, NAS, RAID, and file systems.
- Proficiency in backup and recovery methodologies, including tape-based and disk-based solutions.
- Experience with storage management tools, such as EMC VMAX, NetApp, or Dell Data Domain
- Experience with backup software, such as Veritas NetBackup.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V, and their impact on storage
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex storage and backup issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as EMC Proven Professional, NetApp Certified Data Administrator, Pure Storage Administration Associate
- ITIL foundation
- 5-8 years’ experience in storage and backup administration.
- Experience in managing large-scale storage environments using technologies such as SAN/NAS, RAID.
- eExperience administering and securing storage systems and networks, including configuring and maintaining storage arrays, switches, and servers.
- Wide experience in management of Systems Infrastructure.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery systems, including backup software, policies and procedures, and disaster recovery planning.
